November 22, 2023: A car exploded on Wednesday at the Rainbow Bridge border crossing near Niagara Falls. The FBI is currently investigating the incident, which is being treated as an attempted terrorist attack.
According to Fox News, the vehicle, laden with explosives, was traveling from the United States into Canada. Two individuals in the car were killed in the explosion. Additionally, a border officer sustained injuries.
The impact of the explosion was significant, leading to the closure of all bridges in the vicinity and the evacuation of government buildings. This caused major disruptions at one of the busiest border crossings between the U.S. and Canada. Among the injured was a 27-year-old male who was taken to Niagara Falls Memorial Hospital. Fortunately, his injuries, including back pain and minor cuts, were not life-threatening.
The incident is likely to have implications for Biden’s lax border protocols.
“The FBI Buffalo Field Office is investigating a vehicle explosion at the Rainbow Bridge, a border crossing between the US and Canada in Niagara Falls,” the FBI explained in a statement. “The FBI is coordinating with our local, state, and federal law enforcement partners in this investigation. As this situation is very fluid, that’s all we can say at this time.”
New York Gov. Kathy Hochul stated, “At my direction, the New York State Police is actively working with the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force to monitor all points of entry to New York. I am traveling to Buffalo to meet with law enforcement and emergency responders and will update New Yorkers when more information becomes available.”
